Boaters Meeting – Wednesday 20th September – “Your Club, Your Committee”

Events | May 8th, 2017 | No comments yet

Each year the 130 or so members of Bromsgrove Boaters put the running and future success of their club into the hands of a handful of willing volunteers who make up the club committee.

But those committee members don’t necessarily know what the members want from their club, and certainly don’t have a monopoly on good ideas.

So this an opportunity for club members to talk informally with committee members, to give their views and opinions on any aspect of the club including sailing venues, dates and costs; training courses; website and communications; and even our evening social meetings like this one!

To make it even more interesting (?!) there’ll be a mystery prize for the suggestion from a club member that is considered by the Commodore to have the greatest potential benefit to the club.

Boaters Meeting 16th August – Summer Garden Party

Events | May 8th, 2017 | No comments yet

Sadly, last year’s party was notable for it yet again failing to be very “summery” (more like cold and wet “wintery”) and, therefore, not being in the “garden”. However, it was all the more notable for the excellent food prepared by our hosts at the Rugby Club, and for the seemingly endless supply of Pimms !!

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” so this year will have more of the same. But hopefully also some decent weather!

Places will be limited and must be pre-booked; details to follow.

For illustrative purposes only; yet again this year the Queen is not expected to attend our event, however the Pimms will be there!!

Jonty is a recently-retired GP (earlier this year!) and a life-long sailor who is an occasional contributor to Yachting Monthly.  He and his wife often sail together, and being confident that you would be able to recover a man overboard is obviously a matter of some interest to Jonty, as it should be for all of us who sail.
