The Shipping
Forecast can be viewed at the RYA
weather page, amongst others.
A 3-day forecast
for a range of UK ports is available from Online
Weather.
The Frank
Singleton pages give both links and also a great deal of practical
advice.
The current
wind around the UK can be viewed at the XC
Weather site.
Follow this

Heights recorded by buoys around the UK coast.
The European
Centre for Mid Range Weather Forecasting, ECMWF,
has an excellent animated forecast of the highs and lows reaching
us from across the Atlantic, with their associated winds. Click
on their `Deterministic forecast' link half way down their page
to go to the right page. If you then click the arrow next to the
`Valid Time' heading the animation will commence. Its speed etc.
can be controlled from their `Animation' heading at the bottom of
the page. Other links take you to similar pages for the rest of
the world.
But the absolute
Aladdins Cave of links can be found at Westwinds.
This Swiss site claims to contain 6000 weather links and you need
to explore to decide which sites present the data in a way that
suits you. My preference is found by clicking on AVN/GFS in the
`Forecast Models 0-10d' heading. When the link expands, click on
`GFS Wetter3'. Find the line `Wind 10m' near the bottom. If you
click on 1..7 at the right hand end of the line, you will set up
a seven page animation of the wind arrows for Europe. This is updated
every 6 hours and in my experience is remarkably accurate certainly
in the shorter term.
Now go exploring.
Under the `Forecast Models 0-10d' heading, the UKMO link will take
you to the Bracknell synoptic charts. Under the same link, click
on Usaf for a great presentation of the fronts, with their associated
cloud and precipitation. Alternatively, under the NGP link follow
NGP Nemoc for another excellent set of animations.
Different pages
will give precipitation, fronts, cloud cover, isobars and just about
any combination of weather data you could possibly want. The `0-48'
and `0-72' headings are just as rewarding for shorter periods. Just
